A Murasaki Tsubo Bronze Flower Vase

Showa Era (1926-1989) or Heisei Era (1989-2019)

About the work

This elegant murasaki tsubo bronze flower vase is the work of Yoshihisa Hasegawa, a contemporary Japanese metal artist. Cast in bronze with a deep, lustrous patina of dark violet-brown, the vase exhibits a slender ovoid form rising to a narrow, softly flared mouth, designed as a refined ichirin-zashi (single-stem vase). The surface is subtly reflective, accentuating the purity of line and the quiet strength of its silhouette, embodying both simplicity and sophistication in keeping with the Japanese aesthetic of understated beauty.

The work is housed in its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), complete with protective cloth and certificate of authenticity. Together, these attest to the piece’s provenance and the artist’s attention to preserving traditional craft presentation.
