Footnote
Takagi Jirobei IV (1911–1996) was part of the long-standing Takagi family of kettle makers, descended from the historic Kama-za guild established when metal casters moved to Kyoto from Nara in the Heian period. While many such guilds declined, the Kama-za tradition endured, with the Takagi family continuing to produce tea kettles and related works. The fourth-generation master expanded upon earlier techniques, incorporating finely turned surfaces and subtle decorative patterns reminiscent of ink painting. In 1985, he was honored by the Kyoto Prefectural Government for preserving this important craft lineage.
