Gesson Hamanaka (濱中月村)
Gesson Hamanaka, born in 1943 in Kishiwada, Osaka, began his pottery career in 1961. He built the Oya Kiln in southern Hagi in 1969 and took the artistic name "Gesson" in 1971. Gesson Hamanaka's work has been exhibited extensively, both in Japan and internationally, including at SEIBU Art Forum, Akasaka YU Gallery, and various venues in New York, Milan, Sydney, and Melbourne. Known for his dedication to Hagi ware, Gesson has also been featured in several notable publications and exhibitions, solidifying his influence in the world of contemporary Japanese ceramics.
