Iraku Uozumi (魚住為楽)

The Uozumi family of Kanazawa is a distinguished lineage of sahari (bronze–tin alloy) metal artisans, renowned for casting gongs, bells, and refined tea utensils. The first master pioneered modern sahari gong production, studying under leading metalworkers and earning major honors, including designation as a Living National Treasure for his exceptional tonal craftsmanship. Later generations, including the third master, continued this legacy, producing resonant gongs and elegant tea implements using traditional wax-casting and hand-hammering techniques. Today, the Uozumi family remains one of Japan’s most respected representatives of Kanazawa metalwork and tea-ceremony craft.
