A Cast Bronze Flower Vase (鋳銅花瓶)

Showa Era (1926-1989) or Heisei Era (1989-2019)

About the work

This refined cast bronze vase by Kasai Taizo is a fine example of traditional Japanese metalwork from the renowned Takaoka region, long celebrated for its excellence in bronze casting. Its elegant silhouette gently rises from a narrow foot to a rounded body and then tapers into a modest, slightly flared neck, ideal for a single stem or seasonal flower.

The surface is finished in a deep reddish-brown patina that reflects the subtle warmth and richness of aged bronze. It comes with its original wooden tomobako (signed storage box), inscribed with the title and artist's signature.
