Kenji Kojima (小島憲二)
Kenji Kojima was born in 1953 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from the Tokoname Ceramic Vocational High School in 1971, he moved to Iga, where his work gained recognition at the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition. Kojima then undertook a five year apprenticeship in Bizen with the respected potter Konishi Tozo. Returning to Iga in 1979, he researched ancient kiln sites and constructed his own anagama kiln, which he continues to fire today, producing unique works that remain lesser known in the West.
