Kiyomizu Rokubei (清水六兵衛)

The Kiyomizu Rokubei family (清水六兵衛) is a multigenerational lineage central to the history of Kyoto ceramics. Beginning with the first Rokubei in the eighteenth century, the family established its kiln on Gojozaka and developed a reputation for refined Kiyomizu ware shaped by close relationships with major temples, tea culture and the artistic circles of Kyoto. Across eight generations the lineage expanded its scope from Raku-style tea utensils to porcelain, sculptural forms and large scale commissions, often participating in national exhibitions and receiving distinguished honors. Through continuous transmission of skills and aesthetic ideals, the Kiyomizu family has preserved and renewed a major artistic tradition.
