Koizumi Nizaemon XI (十一代小泉仁左衛門 清岳)
Koizumi Nizaemon XI (b.1971) is trained in mechanical studies at Morioka Technical High School before working four years in industry. At twenty three he apprenticed under his father, the tenth generation Nizaemon. In June 2023 he assumed the title of eleventh generation and continues creating work in the long line of Nambu ironware artisans known widely as the Okamaya. The Koizumi lineage traces back to 1659, when the first Nizaemon was appointed kettle maker to the Nambu domain. Over centuries the family shaped the development of Nambu tea kettles and iron kettles, a tradition he now upholds.
