松楽窯(Shoraku kiln)

The Shoraku kiln is a family lineage founded in 1905 by Sasaki Kichinosuke, whose craft was shaped by the tea aesthetic of Sen no Rikyu. The kiln’s traditions were passed from founder to descendants, each generation preserving his approach to Rakuyaki while adapting to new contexts. After relocating from Kyoto’s Higashiyama district to the mountain village of Kameoka, the family continued to steward the techniques, spirit and discipline established at the kiln’s origin. Through successive generations, the Shoraku line has maintained a coherent identity centered on tea-ceremony ceramics, ensuring the continuity of its inherited craftsmanship.
