Yamamoto Hozan (山本鳳山)

The Yamamoto Hozan lineage of bronze artists was established in the late Meiji era. The first-generation Hozan was born in 1877 and achieved recognition for his mastery of traditional metalwork techniques. Yamamoto Hozan II (b. 1919) inherited the workshop and was designated as the official successor on January 10, 1951, carrying forward the family tradition of chūdo (bronze casting). Known for his technical excellence and creative expression, the second generation has been active in preserving and advancing Japanese bronze artistry, earning honors for his contributions to traditional craft.
