A Kiseto Flower Vase (黄瀬戸花入)

Showa Era (1926-1989), Heisei Era (1989-2019) or Reiwa Era (2019-present)

About the work

A distinguished Kiseto (Yellow Seto) flower vase by Kozo Kato, a celebrated Mino ware potter and Living National Treasure. This piece showcases the artist’s mastery of traditional Kiseto glazing, featuring a rustic yellowish tone with expressive brushwork depicting natural motifs. The cylindrical form, slightly textured surface, and subtle iron-rich accents reflect the wabi-sabi aesthetic, embodying simplicity and refined imperfection.

Encased in its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box) with an accompanying certificate, this vase is a testament to Kozo Kato’s deep commitment to Mino ware traditions.
