A Large Vase with Kudzu Design in Copper Red and Gold (釉裏紅金彩葛図大壷)

Showa Era (1926-1989), Heisei Era (1989–2019) or Reiwa Era (2019 – present)

About the work

A magnificent large porcelain vase by Masahide Hashizume, celebrated for his mastery of copper red underglaze and gold decoration. The vessel’s elegant ovoid form rises to a gently flared mouth, its pure white porcelain surface decorated with flowing kudzu vines in deep, translucent red. Each leaf and tendril is accentuated with delicate touches of gold, creating a sense of lyrical movement and refined opulence. The harmony between natural motif and technical precision exemplifies Hashizume’s highly developed aesthetic.

The work is accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box).
