Sakaida Kakiemon XIII was born in Arita, Saga Prefecture, in 1906. Renowned for his mastery of "nigoshide" porcelain, he was designated as a Living National Treasure in 1971. Over his lifetime, Kakiemon XIII received numerous honors, including the Order of the Sacred Treasure and the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He played a pivotal role in elevating the status of Japanese ceramics on the global stage, cementing the Kakiemon family's legacy as a cornerstone of Arita ware.
