A Shino Ware Yunomi
Showa Era (1926-1989), Heisei Era (1989-2019) or Reiwa Era (2019-present)
About the work
This Shino ware cup by Kato Toyohisa presents a bold surface with dramatic red-orange feldspar blushes against a creamy feldspathic glaze. The tactile texture, marked by subtle pinholing, reflects the vitality of high-fired Shino ware. Its slightly asymmetrical profile enhances the connection between vessel and hand, making it ideal for tea or sake.
While this piece does not come with a tomobako, it stands independently as an excellent example of Toyohisa’s artistry.
