Koichi Kato (加藤浩一)

Koichi Kato (born 1973) is a Japanese ceramic artist and the eldest son of the third generation potter Kato Toshinobu. After studying at the Kyoto Prefectural Technical Ceramics School, he began producing his own work in 1995. Kato is particularly known for his refined and precise approach to form, with a strong focus on tea ceremony utensils. While grounded in his family lineage, his practice emphasizes careful craftsmanship and structural clarity, earning him recognition for works that balance technical discipline with a quiet contemporary sensibility within the tradition of Japanese ceramics.
