A Bronze Sculpture: Blue Wind (藍色の風)

1999

About the work

A serene and expressive bronze sculpture by Mitsuhiro Daidoji, titled “Blue Wind”. This limited edition work, produced in an edition of 1000, captures the essence of a figure caught in an invisible current, an evocation of wind as both physical motion and inner calm.

The form features soft curves and abstracted lines, suggesting flowing garments and gentle movement. Combining stylized modernism with traditional casting techniques, “Blue Wind” is a poetic study in form, gesture, and atmosphere.

Footnote

Mitsuhiro Daidoji, born 1953 in Hokkaido, is a contemporary Japanese sculptor known for his emotionally resonant bronze works. He moved to New York in 1985, where he gained international recognition, receiving a Gold Medal at the 1987 International Art Competition in New York. In 1993, he was awarded at the Adachi Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, where his work was acquired for public display.

Daidoji currently works between studios in New York and Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture: an area historically renowned for metal casting. His sculptures, often produced in limited editions, reflect a deep sensitivity to form, silence, and movement, blending Eastern poetics with a global artistic language.
