An Engraved Bronze Sculpture – Zodiac Dog (Inu)

Showa Era (1926 – 1989) or Heisei Era (1989–2019)

About the work

This seated bronze dog by Kobayashi Shomin is a study in loyal simplicity. Its upright posture and smooth silhouette are accentuated by fine engraved lines and a warm patina. The composition suggests quiet alertness—true to the symbolic nature of the dog in East Asian zodiac tradition.

A thoughtful piece of contemporary Japanese bronze art, executed with refinement and restraint. The sculpture is housed in its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box).
