About the work
A finely crafted incense burner by Hasuda Shugoro, one of Japan’s most celebrated modern metal artists and a Living National Treasure recognized for his mastery of metal casting and sculpture. The burner is executed in solid brass, with a smooth, lustrous golden surface and subtle engraved wave-line decoration encircling the body.
The removable pierced lid is adorned with abstract cutwork patterns, allowing incense smoke to rise gracefully, while the well-balanced, slightly flared form reflects Hasuda’s refined sensibility in merging traditional function with modern sculptural elegance.
