Miwa Kyusetsu (三輪休雪)

Miwa Kyusetsu (三輪休雪), is the hereditary artist name passed down through the heads of the Miwa kiln in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The name is also used on its own as Kyusetsu. Miwa kiln is believed to have begun in the Kanbun era of the Edo period and earned distinction as an official kiln of the Hagi domain alongside the Saka kiln of Saka Koraizaemon. Over many generations, holders of the Kyusetsu name have preserved the core traditions of Hagi ware while producing ceramics that speak to the sensibilities of their time.
