Sakaiida Kakiemon(酒井田柿右衛門)
The Sakaiida Kakiemon family is a celebrated Arita porcelain lineage whose origins trace to the first Kakiemon, Sakaiida Kizaemon, born in 1596. Under his leadership the family developed the distinctive overglaze enamel style known as Kakiemon, which gained prominence through domestic patronage and early export. Across subsequent generations the family preserved technical knowledge through secret manuals, maintained official ties with the Nabeshima domain and contributed to the spread of Japanese porcelain abroad. In the modern era the twelfth and thirteenth heads revived the milky nigoshide body, while the fourteenth was designated a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property.
