A Shino Yunomi (志野湯呑)
Showa Era (1926-1989), Heisei Era (1989-2019) or Reiwa Era (2019-present)
About the work
This Shino yunomi by Kato Toyohisa features a robust, subtly faceted form covered in a creamy feldspathic Shino glaze. The surface exhibits characteristic soft pooling, crawling, and orange hi-iro blush where the glaze thins, giving the piece a warm and organic presence. Vertical texturing along the walls creates a tactile rhythm that complements the slightly undulating lip. Fired nuances and natural pinholing add depth to the glaze, while the foot and lower sections reveal the iron-rich clay body that anchors the vessel visually and materially.
The piece is accompanied by its original signed wooden box, cloth, and a printed insert.
