WHAT SETS OUR FA GAU APART
Fish maw is alternatively called Fa Gau or Tou . By definition, it’s the dried fish bladder of a big fish. That may sound straightforward but many unscrupulous businesses find innovative ways to stretch that definition.
What’s even better is our Fa Gau is no ordinary fish maw. Take note that the market is awash with hordes of fish maw brands that may not be as authentic as they claim. What we’re telling you is you’re not getting a run-of-the-mill product when you cater to our Fa Gau. In short, you’re getting the most bang for your buck. Here’s why:
FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN TO THE PLATE
Fish maw is one delicious food you and the whole family can partake in. That’s assuming you’re getting your supply right.
Know that due to limited supply, unethical businessmen skirt protocols. Instead of using big deep-sea fishes, they utilise small ones. Worse, they deceive people: produce imitations by using squid, shark's skin or head portion of fin soaked in hydrogen peroxide and sulphur followed by a heat process to produce the imitations.
Plus, it’s also not uncommon for substandard products to be disguised as top-grade products.
And this is one area where our Fa Gau shines most — allowing you to relish a super delicious soup with wanton abandon. This product comes from the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. That means you are enjoying fish maw that comes from big fish caught in the wild and processed with utmost efficiency. Fish maw at its raw essence.
FRESH AND HIGH QUALITY
Now, we all know how fish can have a short shelf life. Indeed, the fresher the catch, the better. You’d be giving yourself second-rate fish product otherwise.
This is where our Fa Gau is on top of the game. To ensure that freshness stays and high quality with the product, we implement fish traceability at any point of the process — from the Atlantic Ocean to the plate.
To do that, we keep a fish database from the moment it is captured. Imagine that. That’s telling you we are doing whatever it takes to deliver freshness into your kitchen.
First, we have our fishers record catch date. We then use cellular data to transmit the information acquired by vessel monitoring and a host of data-capture mechanisms.
What’s more, we add information each and every step of the way. This is so we can keep track of the product to ensure quality comes your way. Direct to your table.
In any product, processing is key. Then again, it’s doubly important to process fish as a commodity. Our Fa Gau can only be as nutritious as they are fresh. That’s why our process doesn’t stop at harvesting. We track the fish from the ocean to your table. Now, you know why we employ such a slogan. That means we also track the fish once they arrive from the sea: at the port. Simply put, we check the following:
Fishing licence . Catch documentation . Date of transaction
Our rigorous process looks into the pertinent detail of the catch. Quite frankly, we treat our catch like gold so we can give you the best quality ever.
THE SIZE AND VOLUME OF THE CATCH
THE LOCATION WHERE THE CATCH HAPPENED
USING SMART TECHNOLOGY TO KEEP A RECORD
That means we look into the size and volume of the catch, not to mention the location where the catch happened. Plus, using smart technology (e.g., smartphones, cloud), we keep a record of the transaction from buyers and brokers at the point of sales.
No doubt, the process is tedious but that’s necessary to ensure you get only the best. Straight into your cooking.
The ocean seems endless. It’s such a vast space that we think our supply of fish cannot be undermined. Take note, however, that there is such a thing as overfishing. And if we’re not careful it can happen to our supply for Fa Gau too.
It’s rather simple actually. Overfishing is catching too many fish at a faster rate than what they can reproduce and grow. When that happens, this means systematic degradation. Year after year, the number of fish to catch and consume gets fewer and fewer.
To combat that, we practise sustainable fishing. To do that, we observe measures and protocols provided to not sabotage the delicate balance of nature.
For instance, we keep in mind the right place to catch fish in the wild as designated by authorities. We catch cod responsibly in the North-East Atlantic Ocean using sustainable methods of catching fish.
Plus, we observe Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards. MSC is an international non-profit organisation that recognises and rewards efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future.
Thus, source only from MSC approved stocks. That means our Gadus Morhua (North Atlantid cod) are as sustainable as can be.
Again, you may think of the process as lengthy. But that’s part of the system to ensure you get your fair share of our Fa Gau for years to come.
IT’S CERTIFIED FOOD
Finally, there’s so-so fish maw and there’s certified fish maw. Our Fa Gau has passed stringent tests and is duly certified. That speaks volumes about the kind of product you indulge in when you get our products.
You really don’t want to risk it when it comes to what you put on the table, right? To note, not only do we get MSC certified stocks, but also our production line is MSC certified. So when you cater to our Fa Gau, you also protect the oceans for the future generation.
Moreover, our products are British Retail Consortium (BRC) certified. That means these comply with a global standard for food safety. You’re assured of quality as our Fa Gau does not go out of the assembly line without the blue label pasted on it.
