Showa Era (1926-1989)

About the work

This exquisite pair of ash-glazed yunomi (tea cups) by the celebrated ceramic artist Goro Kawamoto showcases his signature bird motif (鳥文), delicately painted in a minimalist yet expressive style. The rustic ash glaze (灰釉) enhances the natural clay texture, creating a warm, earthy aesthetic that reflects the essence of traditional Japanese folk pottery.

Each cup embodies a balance of form and function, making them ideal for tea ceremonies or daily use. The subtle variations in glaze and texture highlight the artist’s masterful firing techniques.

The set is presented in a signed tomobako (wooden storage box) and accompanied by a protective cloth, ensuring authenticity and preservation.
