About the work
This captivating L-shaped vase by Malcolm Wright showcases a masterful blend of geometry and glaze. The tenmoku (天目釉) glaze, with its deep, glossy black surface and subtle iron-tinged highlights along the edges, enhances the sculptural quality of the piece. The bold, angular form creates dynamic negative space, making it an exceptional vessel for ikebana or a standalone statement artwork.
Wright’s ability to merge Japanese ceramic traditions with a modern aesthetic is evident in this piece, reflecting his deep understanding of both form and function. Included is a signed tomobako (wooden storage box), ensuring authenticity and collector’s value.
