A Shino Kinuta Flower Vase (志野砧花生)

Showa Era (1926-1989) or Heisei Era (1989-2019)

About the work

A masterfully crafted Shino block-shaped flower vase by Kato Takuo, a revered ceramic artist and Living National Treasure. This striking piece features a traditional Shino glaze, characterized by its soft white surface with vibrant iron-oxide brushwork, creating a dynamic contrast of texture and color. The faceted form, inspired by the shape of a traditional kinuta, enhances the play of light and shadow across the surface, embodying the rustic elegance of Mino ware.

Accompanied by an authentication certificate, this piece is a testament to Kato Takuo’s exceptional craftsmanship and deep appreciation for traditional Japanese ceramics.
