Katsunori Sawa is a contemporary ceramic artist based in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture. After studying under the renowned potter Goro Suzuki, Sawa developed his own powerful and expressive style, rooted in the traditions of Oribe and Shigaraki ware. Working with a wood-fired kiln, he produces ceramics that celebrate the textures of flame and ash, embracing both spontaneity and deliberate craftsmanship. His pieces are widely admired for their depth, character, and originality.
