Footnote

Born in 1954 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Kayama Tetsuya is the son of the esteemed Nihonga painter Kayama Matazo. Initially trained in Japanese painting at Tama Art University, he later transitioned to ceramics under the mentorship of master potter Banura Shiro. In 1988, he established his own kiln in Oiso, where he continues to create nature-inspired ceramic works that reflect both his painterly origins and deep reverence for the natural world.
