About the work

This beautiful set features five Hagi ware guinomi (sake cups), each crafted by prominent kilns: Katayama Hagi-getsu (片山萩月), Matsuno Ryokueigama (松野緑栄窯), Kaneta Tenchoyama (兼田天寵山窯), Kaneta Kaen (兼田佳炎窯), and Ōyagama (大屋窯). Each cup embodies the unique aesthetics and craftsmanship of these celebrated Hagi kilns, offering a glimpse into the varied but harmonious tradition of Hagi ware. The set comes in its original wooden box (tomobako) with a leaflet of authenticity.

Hagi ware is renowned for its "Hagi no Nanabake" (萩の七化け) or "seven transformations," as the glaze changes over time with use, enhancing its beauty and charm.
