A Blue-Glazed Vase (青釉花瓶)

Heisei Era (1989-2019)

About the work

n elegant, blue-glazed vase by Morino Taimei, one of Kyoto's most distinguished contemporary ceramic artists. The work features a striking long-necked form rising from a rounded globular body to a gently flared mouth, creating a graceful and architecturally balanced silhouette.

The vase is covered in a rich matte blue glaze that transitions subtly to lighter turquoise tones around the rim. The understated surface emphasises the purity of the form, allowing the viewer to appreciate the refined proportions and quiet sophistication that characterise Morino's work. The elongated neck lends the piece a sculptural presence, while the rounded lower body provides visual stability and harmony.

Rooted in the traditions of Kyoto ceramics yet distinctly modern in conception, this vase reflects Morino Taimei's lifelong pursuit of form, colour, and spatial expression. Equally effective as a flower vessel or as a standalone sculptural object, it exemplifies the elegant restraint for which the artist is celebrated.

The vase is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), confirming its authenticity and provenance.
