A Bizen Sake Cup (備前酒呑)

Showa Era (1926-1989), Heisei Era (1989-2019) or Reiwa Era (2019-present)

About the work

A Bizen sake cup by Takeuchi Yasuyuki, with its surface enlivened by warm reddish tones from the firing. Subtle flashes of ash deposit highlight the rim and shoulders, contrasting with the iron-rich clay beneath.

The faceted body carries traces of natural kiln movement, giving the vessel both rugged strength and understated refinement. Its well-balanced proportions and rustic glaze harmonize perfectly with its function as a vessel for sake, offering both visual richness and tactile pleasure.
The work is accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box), cloth, and paper insert, attesting to authenticity.
