Born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kyuwa carried forward the family legacy of the Miwa kiln (休雪) and was celebrated for his innovative approach to straw ash glazes. His works are characterized by a gentle harmony that blends Korean-style tea bowls with traditional Japanese sensibilities. His legacy is preserved not only through his ceramics but also through his artistic contributions to the cultural heritage of Hagi City.
