Footnote

Yuichi Yamamoto was born in 1935 in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. He is the eldest son of the famous potter 山本陶秀 (Yamamoto Tōshū), who was designated a Living National Treasure. Yamamoto Yuichi took over his father's kiln and has been a prominent figure in the world of Bizen ware.

Yuichi Yamamoto is known for his mastery of the traditional Bizen techniques, particularly the use of the clay potter's wheel (轆轤). He has introduced innovations such as the gas kiln, which has been instrumental in achieving unique glaze effects. His works are celebrated for their natural beauty and simplicity, often featuring the characteristic reddish-brown color of Bizen ware.
