Oriental beauty tea （東方美人茶） which is known commonly as Dongfang Meiren (Eastern Beauty) is a unique and famous tea from Hsinchu County in the North of Taiwan. The process in cultivating Oriental beauty is unique as they require insects to bite the tea leaves. This will cause the plant to respond by sending enzymes to the affected area which gives off a scent to attract predators to the attacking insect. The other effect of the enzyme is that it will make the leave more sweet as a by product. Combine this with oxidization processes and you have a unique flavour born from a unique process.
